Following is a summary of VITA/TCE Volunteer Tax Alerts:

The electronic and printed versions of Form 6744, VITA/TCE Volunteer Assistor’s Test/Rest require the following corrections. The Link and Learn Taxes online certifications will contain the corrections. These updates will have an impact on test/retest answers.Advanced Scenario 8 – Cynthia SimonAdd the following statement above the Interview Notes:
“Note: For the purpose of answering the questions in this scenario, ignore the self-employed health insurance deduction and any scope issues it creates.”
For our volunteers who choose to complete other Certification Tests on Link and Learn:Basic Scenario 9, Mary Rodgers: Test Question 28The receipt for Make A Way Daycare on page 62 in the printed version of Form 6744 is blank. Information for the receipt is available in the electronic version.
Military Scenario 4, Robert and Shirley Myers:

1. Test Question 10: Change multiple choice answer selection c. from 285 to 288.
2. Retest Question 10: Change the question to read as, “Robert and Shirley have 288 days to file their tax return after he returns from the combat zone”.

For our volunteers who desire FS &S Certification: When completing their Foreign Student and Scholar (FS&S) certification test and using the Form 6744, VITA/TCE Volunteer Assistor’s Test/Retest.

Please use caution when completing the tests/retests. Review the corrected pages for the issues identified above. As a reminder, the updates will be in Link and Learn Taxes online certifications and is the preferred method for completing the tests/retests.

As part of the Tax-Aide program, information including the latest updates and program guidance is regularly sent via email to all volunteers.
